WHAT WE DO
Our aim is make any visit to Woodlands Adventure enjoyable, educational & memorable. During the course of the visit we provide encouragement so that those attending can realise previously hidden abilities and natural talents.
Woodlands Adventure caters principally for young people aged 7 ~ 19. Due to our comprehensive range of activities each group’s programme is tailored to meet their needs a few weeks in advance of their visit. Types of programme include Multi activity days, home education groups, NVQ & G.C.S.E adventure modules, team building, birthday parties, company away days.
Our staff team has a great deal of experience and are National Governing Body (NGB) qualified. All staff undertake a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme in order to give comprehensive instruction to, and meet the needs of visiting groups. They have considerable expertise instructing clients with physical and mental impairments.
Our aim is also to keep diversifying our activities and new for the 2010 academic year will be a forest schools programme :-
“The forest school originates from Denmark where it was used for early years learning thus preparing children for school. The children arrived at school with strong social skills, self esteem and confident to work on their own or in small groups.
Today forest school provides these same skills for the users whether they are pre-school or adults, based in a woodland environment. Activities are predominantly user led and include wide games, arts & crafts, nature studies – flora and fauna recognition, the importance of trees, glades and eco-systems, use of tools, fire lighting and backwoods cooking.
The forest school programme achieves best results when it’s run over a frequent and prolonged period – 1 day a week over 10 weeks or longer.
The woodlands forest school team are trained by Archimedes Training Ltd and have been part funded by the Forestry Commission.”- Cited with kind permission from Archimedes Training Ltd website www.forestschools.com
